Privateer is best in my opinion. They have superior healing over 3 turns, and a mover with superior healing for your whole team.
They have barrage attacks with unlimited range that can leave fire and do lots of damage. They get the most companions, too. Not that other classes aren't cool, but I like Privateer most.
The Undead Obeah. Personally, you have to pick you class depending on what your battle strategy is. If you want to just run in and fight, you can go with Buccaneer , but if you want a flexible class that can befuddle your foes and test your skills then you should probably go for Witchdoctor.
They are by far the most versatile class with the largest bag of tricks including area of affects, drains, curses, charms, hexes, summons, and pure untamed power waiting for you to command.
However, if I had to choose another class it would probably be Swashbuckler. They also require tactics due to their low health and can become a powerhouse of pure concentrated damage.
